Interventional Radiologist-50%, no mammo-Metro Ohio

Solid and stable private practice group of 13 needs a fellowship-trained IR doc preferably with a fellowship in IR completed in the last 10 years. Fresh grads are great but definitely willing to consider experienced docs. They are looking for someone that can start practicing with them July-August or sooner if available. The area of the practice that is ripe for expansion is their interventional oncology service. Presently doing some chemo-embolizations and it can be greatly expanded upon. What they are not yet doing, but soon will be, is the Yttrium-90 radioembolization treatments. Ideally, they'd like to get someone that already has experience with those procedures and could bring it into the practice. However, if someone is not yet doing Y-90 therapies, but has a genuine interest in it as well as all interventional oncology then they are potentially a viable candidate.

They do a fair amount of kyphoplasties and vertebroplasties, limited vascular IR work as well as plenty of biopsies, abscess drainages and other basic IR. If someone doesn’t do kyphos or vertebroplasties that's fine but it’s there for anyone skilled with those procedures. Initially, expect 50% of your clinical time doing IR, but it will build over time. Outside of IR the remaining clinical time will be spent reading MR, CT, US, plain films, etc. No mammo or MSK MRI required but if someone wants to read mammo they surely can. They don’t need an MSK expert, so if anyone is lacking with that or another particular facet of MRI they can likely cover it with all of their other fellowship-trained radiologists. Overall it’s a fantastic place to practice high quality radiology catering to an upscale referral base.

This is a very stable group that has been together for more than 30 years. They have an excellent reputation for providing quality service and are have become one of the premier groups in the city. They have experienced a lot of growth in the last ten years and have nearly doubled in size going from 8-13 members in that time. Their hospital is located in a favorable corridor of the city that is a very affluent area where everyone is employed and well-insured. With their hospital being located in one of the more upscale areas of the city, the group feels that this is likely where you would want to live as well; meaning that you live very close to where you work and have the maximum amount of time possible with your family on a daily basis.

This is a busy practice and they definitely need someone who would define themselves as a self-starter; someone confident in their abilities who feels they will work up to speed quickly, if not immediately. They want an easy-going person who relates well with referring physicians and who can handle being busy all day. They would very much like to find someone with ties to the area, or at least ties to the Midwest, so that they don’t have someone coming to try out the region for a while only to return back to wherever they came from. This is a 100% equal partnership with a democratic group of people. They only want partnership-minded people who are coming to stay for the long term. Excellent benefits package, relocation allowance and vacation is eight weeks year one, nine weeks year two, 10 weeks year three and likely 12-13 as a partner. Call is shared evenly with one other fellowship-trained IR doc and could be 1:2 weeks or 2:4 weeks. It is rare to get called back into the hospital after hours, average 1-2 times per month.

General Radiology with MSK or neuroradiology fellowship

$
0
0

Practice Data (duties, equipment, hospital data, story, etc.): This 25+ member group currently has an opening for a radiologist at a hospital they began covering nearly ten years ago. They are looking for a fellowship-trained MSK radiologist that has preferably completed that training within the last 5-10 years as it is a rapidly advancing sub-specialty.

The group has been in existence for 30+ years and has a solid reputation for providing the best service in the region. The group’s primary concern relative to skills will be the ability to handle as many forms of general MR and CT as possible in addition to the MSK work. Expect 25-30% of your clinical time to be spent doing MSK or neuro imaging and any extra or more sub-specialized imaging skills could be utilized. There is a strong orthopedic presence in the area and no one in this location currently that possesses a dedicated year of MSK training. So, the opportunity for growth in that sub-specialty area is definitely there. And neuro has always been a significant part of the practice and will continue to be. It is a very busy practice and you can expect 100 studies a day, but with no procedures that is manageable for most radiologists. Weekend call is also busy and is equally shared every third or fourth weekend, so anyone looking for a moderately paced practice may not be happy here. However, those accustomed to a fast pace and an awesome equipment set-up will be impressed with what the practice has to offer, especially long term.

This is a general practice overall, and you will be expected to play an active role in all aspects of their clinical duties, but no procedures whatsoever as they have RAs that perform them all. Mammo is definitely a pre-requisite as is US, plain films, fluoro, etc. This is in no way a start-up practice. As a result, the group has excellent relations with all of the various medical and administrative staffs and they work very closely together. So, in bringing in a new person to the group it is imperative that any candidate have a strong service mentality, a very strong sense of professionalism, and for lack of a better term, be a good team player. They are looking for a well-trained, partnership-minded self starter that is looking for a permanent place to practice. Very competitive compensation while you work up the partnership track along with attainable production incentives.

General Group Info: This group has been in place for nearly 35 years now. Even a cursory investigation would show that the practice has an excellent track record in the region both for their clinical skills and their business ethics. The group is also one that was built by radiologists for radiologists. That means if you want to be more than just a film reader there are opportunities for you to be involved in the overall leadership of the group. In fact, the practice would love to bring on someone with extra skills in business development, computer systems, administration, or any of the multitudes of skills and abilities required to run a practice of this size.

Having placed a number of folks with this group over several years we can definitely vouch for their ethics and standards. This is an excellent opportunity to put down long term roots in the Northeastern U.S. and be close to so many of the region's attractions.
